Hosted by vice president Zheng Qinghua of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Special Work Meeting of Silk Road Engineering Sciences and Technology Knowledge Service was held in the meeting room-6 of the main building on the afternoon of March 17. Attending the meeting are project managers of schools and Colleges of Xi’an Jiaotong University, such as Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering, School of Foreign Studies, School of Continuing Education, School of International Education, Network Information Center (NIC), Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges, Xi’an Jiaotong University Library, Department of Social Sciences Research, etc.
A Blog from World Data System of International Science Council (ISC-WDS) was released, namely “knowledge service for disaster risk reduction: a practice using big data technology” on 15 April, 2020.
2020 WUPENiCITY International Competition on Students' Course Works of Urban Design is themed “Healthy Community of Future”. Participants are supposed to submit urban design works with unique and innovative perspectives, accomplished through comprehensive and professional methods. The competition is aimed to promote open and international exchange of urban planning Students and education.
The competition is open to all urban planning and urban design majors in all colleges and universities to share their best works in “Urban Sustainability Reports” .The competition aims to plant professional consciousness in students of urban planning, architecture, landscape and other related majors; enhance their capacities in reviewing, analyzing and solving social problems, connecting planning and design knowledge with practical issues in ecological environment, economic growth, social progress; and exercise their skills of writing and presentation.
Ms. Mizutori who also heads the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), urged national disaster management agencies to continue with the development of their preparedness and response capacities to include health emergencies as a top priority, alongside earthquakes, floods, storms and other natural hazards.
International workshop for youth and young professionals in disaster risk reduction research: mobilizing youth through international collaboration was held in Cheng du, Sichuan Province on December 6-8, 2019. IKCEST Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service System team attended this seminar.
In order to strengthen the cooperation and exchange with Yanshan University in international engineering education, TIAN Huijun, LI Zhengwen and CHEN Huimin from EEKS came to the College of International Education, Yanshan University on December 5, 2019 to conduct a field survey to the school’s admission and teaching of overseas students and to discuss the follow-up cooperation between the two sides.
On the morning of December 5, HUANG Sheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, ZHANG Wenli, Deputy Director of Division of International Cooperation, and JIANG Yongchao, Head of Chinese Program for Foreign Students, College of International Education, Yanshan University received the teachers from ICEE at the Conference Room 1910, Century Building, Yanshan University.
The 69th IKCEST Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology Development was held in Walailak University of Thailand from Dec.6th to 7th, 2019. It was co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (shortened as “IKCEST”) under the Auspices of UNESCO, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Walailak University, and was organized by IKCEST Silk Road Training Base. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President of Walailak University, Prof. Dr. Charun Bunyakan, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs of Walailak University, and other 21 teacher representatives as well as over 100 students registered for the workshop.
The Opening ceremony of the 66th IKCEST Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology Development was held in Rangsit University of Thailand on the morning of Nov. 19th, 2019. It was co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (shortened as “IKCEST”) under the Auspices of UNESCO, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Rangsit Universities, and was organized by IKCEST Silk Road Training Base. Dr. Chitriya Pinthong, Vice President of Rangsit University, Director Song Ruoyun, Head of Education Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, Luo Tieying, President of Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities, Di Dehai, Dean of the School of Continuing Education of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Tianfeng, Professor of the Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University, attended the opening ceremony. Over 200 students from Rangsit University and other universities in Thailand registered for the workshop.
The First “The Belt and Road” China-Thailand Universities Internet & Education Summit Forum was held in Bangkok, Thailand from Dec. 3rd to 4th, 2019. Guided by Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Thailand, it was co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) under the Auspices of UNESCO, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities. In the Joint Press Statement issued by the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, a consensus that strengthening multi-level and multi-field cooperation in education through partnership schools, special exchanges, academic exchanges and distance learning, so as to promote talents and provide intellectual support for the development of two countries was reached. This forum, hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong University and IKCEST, is a pragmatic measure to promote the work under such a consensus. In the future, Xi’an Jiaotong University and IKCEST will continue to carry out the Belt and Road international talents training, promote the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, provide strong support for the development of Belt-road countries through talents cultivating, and build a bridge connecting people’s heart along Belt-road countries through educational exchanges.
