UNESCO Jakarta Office and the Secretariat of Science and Technology Policy Asian Network (STEPAN) jointly organized a meeting under the theme of “Towards Regional Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation (SETI), Science Policy and Open Science Roadmap” on March 16, 2021, aiming to improve the strength of STEPAN, put forward a SETI policy and work plan, and promote the implementation of SDGs. The International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) was invited to attend the meeting and make a report.

       Hans Thulstrup, Senior Programme Specialist at UNESCO Jakarta Office, delivered the welcome address. The Secretariat briefly introduced STEPAN work plan and roadmap. A representative from the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka gave a keynote speech on how to improve the strength of STEPAN, and enhance science policy and capacity building to facilitate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

       Representatives from the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation in Malaysia, IKCEST and the UNESCO Science Centre Board, Singapore delivered keynote speeches respectively. Liu Chang, Secretary General of IKCEST, introduced the technology roadmap, featured knowledge services and future work plan of IKCEST. She said that as an open data service platform, IKCEST is willing to cooperate with partners to contribute to the implementation of SDGs and the 2030 agenda.

       Representatives from 15 countries including Malaysia, India, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan made reports, and the participants had active discussion.
